European Commission launches a study on the role of information and communication technologies to improve market transparency

The main objectives of the study are to: to describe and analyse the potential of different information and communication technologies (ICTs) and of big data to improve the existing EU-system for data on food markets; to assess the governance aspects that would make the developments of such potential improvements possible. The study should focus on existing practices of gathering and disseminating information on agri-food markets with the use of ICTs and big data for public data provision. It should present a comprehensive overview of the role of ICTs and big data to improve market transparency, including issues that may need to be addressed to make full use of such data (e.g. avoiding biases and ensuring big data representativeness).Commission launches a study on the role of information and communication technologies to improve market transparency.
