The operating season of the Sucros sugar factory in Säkylä started on October 4 this year, and the last beet load arrived at the factory on November 24. Sucros' director of agriculture , Fanni Heinonen , says that the round-the-clock operation of the factory went according to plan and production has remained steady throughout the entire operation period. Heinonen hopes that a good beet year and the historically large increase of almost 10 euros negotiated in the ton price will also encourage new farmers to start as contract farmers for Sucros. Next year, the basic price of a one-year fixed-price farming contract will be 42 euros per ton. "New farmers are very welcome. Sugar's self-sufficiency rate is around 40 percent, and the factory's production volume could be increased if there were more domestic raw materials."
