Al Khaleej Sugar opts for Rouen instead of Mérida

Haropa Port has announved that it will be Rouen (France) where Al Khaleej Sugar (AKS) will build its sugar factory, which aims to be one of the largest in Europe. Haropa Port has selected the AKS project to build a sugar mill further to the call it launched in June 2021 for the improvement of an old industrial platform located Grand-Couronne – Moulineaux (Seine-Maritime). The beet sugar factory will be located on a 75 ha site, with an investment of several hundred million euros and could be operational in 2025. Production of between 650,000 and 850,000 t is expected, representing between 7 and 9% of imports from AKS's target geographical areas: Maghreb, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
