Every 14 days from 2 August 2021 to mid/end of October, we carry out test clearing in six growing regions. A lot of leaf, average beet yields and below-average sugar contents: this is how the results of the first test clearings in 2021 from the beginning of August in southern Germany can be summarized. If you take a closer look at the weather data in the regions, you can see that the temperatures in April and May were very below average. Also in July, measured by the 10-year temperature average, some heat was missing. Especially in May, June and July there was also a lot of precipitation and the beets produced a lush leaf apparatus. Many sunny days would now be desirable so that the sugar content can be increased.Click here to connect to the source of this storyClick here for more News and Views
As I browse the web researching various topics concerning the EU and UK sugar markets, I've been bookmarking interesting weblinks. Some of these are news clippings, some are links to official documents, and some are interesting data sources.
