Every 14 days from 2 August 2021 to mid/end of October, we carry out test clearing in six growing regions. A lot of leaf, average beet yields and below-average sugar contents: this is how the results of the first test clearings in 2021 from the beginning of August in southern Germany can be summarized. If you take a closer look at the weather data in the regions, you can see that the temperatures in April and May were very below average. Also in July, measured by the 10-year temperature average, some heat was missing. Especially in May, June and July there was also a lot of precipitation and the beets produced a lush leaf apparatus. Many sunny days would now be desirable so that the sugar content can be increased.
